Please have a look at the following websites and links. We recommend you buy the books (I've sourced the cheapest websites) and subscribe to the mailing list. It is not necessary to buy The Performing Arts Yearbook, it can be found at your local library.

The Independent Theatre Council is the management association and industry lead body for performing arts organisations and individuals working in the field of drama, dance, opera and music theatre, mime and physical theatre, circus, puppetry, street arts and mixed media. ITC provides training, information, advocacy and advice for small and medium sized performing arts companies on areas such as contracts, rates of pay, legal & HR issues, management and much more.
Equity is the UK Trade Union representing professional performers and other creative workers from across the spectrum of the entertainment, creative and cultural industries. It recommends minimum rates of pay for performers, directors and so on.
The Place (the UK’s premier centre for contemporary dance) runs many professional development projects and programmes for independent dance artists.

Firstly, we have two articles we'd like you to have a quick look at. One is a case study and another is an interview about successful South Asian artists: Shobana Jeyasingh and Akram Khan.
