Creative and Cultural Skills Professional Development Programme

A programme of professional development Masterclasses for artists and people interested in careers in the arts.
198 Contemporary Arts and Learning has been funded through the LDA 2012 London Cultural skills fund to deliver the 1London project. This fund is designed to support the advancement of cultural and creative skills so that more people in London can have the chance to learn and develop through the arts during the Cultural Olympiad. 1 London will provide training to enable beneficiaries to meet skills shortages in the creative and cultural industries though master classes in arts management. All Masterclasses will be delivered by arts professionals.

Artist Run Spaces

Fundraising and Finance

Different sources of funding, preparing applications, budgeting, financial management & sponsorship.

Socially Engaged and Participatory Practice

Participatory practices, working with people in non-traditional spaces, residencies, communities and regeneration.

Evaluating Your Project

Planning evaluation, collecting evidence, analysing data, reporting and sharing findings

Contracts and Copyright

Understanding commissioning and sales, intellectual property rights, being contracted by private and public organisations.

Using the Internet

How to promote your work and develop projects using blogging, social networking, streaming media and websites.

Gallery Education
10th February 6-9pm
Exploring different approaches and opportunities to interpret exhibitions and collections with different groups and audiences.

Becoming Freelance

The legal requirements for being self-employed, tax and national insurance, personal accounting

Marketing
19th January 2010 6-9pm
Understanding different forms of media, communicating you message, developing press releases and publicity materials

Curating Exhibitions and Projects
27th January 6-9pm
Developing your concept, Planning, Working with artists, delivering and documenting your project

Networking Event
25th February 7-9pm
An opportunity to get together, network and meet other participants.

All classes are free but require a £10 refundable deposit.
